A Legacy Built Over Generations
Since 1947
George Galea and his brothers Louis and Joseph founded the company in post-war Malta, initially repairing war-damaged doors and apertures. Contracts with British services in Malta and Libya followed, eventually leading to a showroom in Libya.
1960s
Vincent and Albert Galea joined the business, followed by Maurice de Giorgio. The company secured a licence to manufacture G Plan furniture, won several hotel-room contracts and expanded into mattresses, Venetian blinds and new furniture lines.
1970s
The company continued expanding its manufacturing expertise, signing a further licensing agreement to produce Reprodux furniture. This strengthened its position in local furniture production and built on the manufacturing capabilities developed during the previous decade.
1990s
As local furniture manufacturing faced growing competition from imports, the business adapted. It shifted towards commercial and marine contracts, bespoke commissions and the importation of leading European furniture brands, broadening its offer beyond local production.
2008
Joinwell moved from its well-known Sliema showroom to a larger, state-of-the-art facility in Qormi. The move created more space for its expanding collections, operations and services while supporting the company’s continued development.
2023
Joinwell merged with FXB, bringing together complementary strengths and expanding the group’s portfolio. The merger also incorporated The Bath Concept, specialising in bathroom solutions, and Econetique Energy Solutions, focused on sustainable energy systems.
Present
Today, JoinwellFXB is led by Sebastian de Giorgio, grandson of Maurice de Giorgio. Its team spans design, carpentry, logistics and installation, continuing a long-standing focus on quality, skilled delivery and dependable service.
